FAQs
Some questions customers ask
Medical and health tourism involves the movement of patients in countries other than their permanent place of residence for the purposes of getting medical and health services.
Patients are choosing to travel in order to get access to high-quality healthcare, affordability, as well as procedures and services that might otherwise be unavailable. The primary reason, however, is the difference in cost for dental and medical health services between the patients’ home country and their destination.
You are going to need a valid, government-issued passport in order to be able to travel abroad. Some countries, also require a visa to enter. There are agencies that work with special passport and visa agencies to expedite the necessary documents in as little as 24-72 hours, depending on your destination. UK and EU members don’t need a visa to travel to Macedonia.
Simply choose the most convenient way for you, to contact us. Fill in our quick inquiry form, send us an e-mail or ask for a callback – we will get back to you in no time and explain everything you want to know. You can find a step-by-step description of our entire medical tourism process here.
It varies on a case by case scenario. At the time you finally decide to visit Macedonia, you only have to pay an advance payment for the extra services (accommodation, excursions, etc.), which you can easily do with a bank transfer or your credit card. On arrival, you are going meet your dentist who is going to perform a final diagnostic check and finalize the treatment plan. At this point, you are required to fill in a ‘first entry survey’, sign a statement of consent, and pay 20% of the treatment value. The rest is paid before the treatment ends.
Some ‘special offers’ require the payment to be made at the time of arrival and/or the start of the treatment.
- By Cash
- By Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Diners Club)
Once we receive your final request, we will send you an electronic contract with a detailed list of agreed upon services. This is a necessary step in establishing mutual trust and expectations. We do not require you to make any advance payments, you are not obliged to come for dental treatment but we require you to notify us by e-mail if you decide not to take the trip.
Yes. In order to join the Timothy Charles Dental Tourism network, we require the staff of our partners to speak fluent English. They will be at your disposal during your trip. This includes dentists, technical staff, hotel personnel, etc.
Medical tourism is not only about the treatment, but also activities that you would normally do on a regular holiday. Upon request, Timothy Charles Dental tourism will organize sightseeing trips and other extras to help you discover Macedonia’s fullest beauty and potential. For an additional fee, we will provide you with excursion offers, specially tailored to your needs and preferences, ranging from but not limited to countryside trips, wine tasting, historical and cultural sightseeing tours, fitness and spa visits etc. Of course, some procedures require peaceful rehabilitation and we will act according to the doctor’s recommendations, as your health and personal safety are always our first concern.
Of course! We are going to fully take care of you and any of your co-travelers. Whether they need medical assistance, or simply want to enjoy Macedonia, we will accommodate their wishes. Additionally, we give special offers for accommodation, transportation and leisure activities so the entire arrangement is always at a lower cost, with us.
Healthcare Quality
The medical education of Macedonian dentists, combined with high-degree of international experience grants top-quality healthcare. The dentists in the partner clinics are accredited internationally, have extensive experience in their field, use state-of-art equipment, and employ only the latest methods and techniques in their treatment procedures. The fact that Macedonian dentists are highly valued in clinics throughout Europe speaks for itself.
All the goods and services, not only healthcare, are much cheaper in Macedonia than for instance, in European Union or the UK. This can be attributed to two factors: 1) lower costs of labor and 2) lower taxes. The companies are paying lower rents, so it is cheaper to bring the latest techniques. As the cost of living is low in Macedonia, hence, we can offer you a better price for the final service. Nevertheless, the quality of the healthcare itself is at similar or even higher level!
No matter the location, every medical treatment bears some sort of a risk. You can have a quick overview of the risks of specific treatments in their respective descriptions. However, the experience and healthcare standards of our partner clinics, minimize the risks as much as possible. Of course, during the free online consultation, you will be personally informed about all the risks (even the least likely ones) that are associated with your required treatment. However, the final decision rests in your hands.
The patient’s safety is our primary concern. Even though the risks are usually minimal, naturally, in case of necessity, the dentist will advise you to stay in Macedonia for a few days for rehabilitation after the treatment. If your recovery is not going as planned, when you arrive back to your home country, do not hesitate to contact us or your local doctor, to eliminate any possible risk.
There are no waiting times for the treatments you need, hence you can receive the required treatment basically as soon as you arrive.
This is so due to a huge capacity of Macedonian healthcare, which is one of the top EU nations by dentists, doctors and hospital beds per capita.
You can get a free of charge online consultation during which: 1) your dentist will investigate your individual case, 2) what are the possible risks involved due to your medical history, 3) what after-care you will need and 4) answer the other questions that may arise.
Each individual case is unique and in order to be able to offer you an accurate free online quotation and consultation, we may recommend you to visit a dentist so you can provide us with a panoramic an x-ray scan. However, this is not obligatory.
The descriptions of treatments give recommendations for aftercare, what to do and what to avoid doing. We very much advise you to follow these recommendations, so you can get all the necessary post-treatment rehabilitation and recovery you need. During the initial free online consultation, our doctors will guide you through everything you need to know about aftercare. Even after you are back to your home country, a Timothy Charles Dental Tourism coordinator will check on your condition, and provide all the assistance that you might require.
Costs
The exact quote for the health services will be determined after the free online consultation with your doctor or after filling-in this inquiry form. Then, we will send you an official non-binding proposal with the price for your required dental treatment(s) and any additional services. Note that most of the time final costs do not deviate much from the quoted price.
Even when the costs for the entire arrangement are calculated, you can save up to 70% if you choose to undergo a treatment with Timothy Charles Dental tourism. Of course, it depends on your accommodation, travel and other preferences, but we – through our partnerships – ensure the best price for you in Macedonia.
Medical treatments are up to 4-5 times cheaper in Macedonia than in e.g. Germany, UK or the Netherlands. Therefore even after all the other costs are added, you are still going to save a good deal of money. You can find the approximate price comparison of the dental services with your country of residence on our website.
The free consultation via the internet is non-binding, so afterward, you can still decide whether you want to visit Macedonia or not. Once you’ve reached a final decision to go to Macedonia, you only have to pay an advance payment for the extra services (accommodation, excursions, etc.), which you can easily do with a bank transfer or a credit card.
Please note that you will be required to pay a deposit of up to 20% of the total sum for the dental services during your initial appointment with the dentist, who will perform a final diagnostic check and finalize the treatment plan. This depends on the policies of our partner clinics – because there may be certain (costly) preparations, prior to the treatment.
Absolutely not! Timothy Charles Dental tourism main value is to work transparently so that every patient can feel safe and sure about what they pay and what they get. Once you inquire us, we will send you an official non-binding proposal with the exact prices of accommodation and all the extra activities you have selected. It is true, however, that medical procedures’ prices might vary slightly, in every individual case. Nonetheless, you will be given a clear guidance about the price during a free internet consultation.
